Ambient Recruiting is partnered with a manufacturing company in Grand Rapids seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee operations across both a newly established cleanroom production line and a traditional manufacturing floor.
This role is ideal for a hands-on, data-driven leader who is passionate about team development, operational efficiency, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations, including safety, quality, staffing, production flow, and material replenishment.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen events to improve quality, throughput, and efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through labor, process, and material efficiency.
- Develop, coach, and mentor team members while promoting accountability and professional growth.
- Standardize processes and best practices across shifts.
- Collaborate with engineering, scheduling, customer service, warehouse, and maintenance teams to meet production and delivery goals.
- Ensure employees are properly trained and consistently follow standard operating procedures.
- Degree in Business, Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Progressive experience in manufacturing management or production leadership.
- Proven experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen events.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use data to drive decisions.
- Experience improving manufacturing processes, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience working with tier-one suppliers.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material handling.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work environment with low to moderate noise levels.
- Lead production across both a new cleanroom line and an established manufacturing floor.
- Drive meaningful improvements in manufacturing efficiency, quality, and team performance.
- Make a direct impact on production operations while developing and mentoring a team.
