Build Your Career with a Growing Commercial Construction Team
We're recruiting Commercial Carpenters for a well-established commercial construction contractor with a strong and growing presence in Northern Michigan. This company specializes in interior and exterior finish work on commercial buildings — framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, and flooring — and has a track record of long-term careers, not just jobs. This is a true direct-hire opportunity, not a temporary assignment.
Whether you're new to the trade and ready to learn or you're an experienced commercial carpenter looking for your next long-term home, there's a path for you here. The company actively backfills retirements and has ongoing openings, cross-trains its crews across multiple skill areas, and offers a built-in apprenticeship path for those starting out. If you're willing to learn, self-motivated, and comfortable working at heights, this could be a great fit.
What You'll Be Doing
- Exterior and interior framing on commercial job sites
- Hanging and finishing drywall
- Installing acoustical and specialty ceilings
- Flooring installation
- Working from boom lifts and mobile (Baker) scaffolding, with occasional leading-edge roof work to attach framing to steel
- Cross-training across multiple scopes of work as you grow with the team
What We're Looking For

Real Talk
This is physical, hands-on work. You'll be comfortable on boom lifts and scaffolding, and there is occasional roof-level work attaching framing to steel — heights are part of the job. Some projects will require travel outside the Traverse City area, including potential Upper Peninsula work. The pace and scope of work can vary by job site, and the company genuinely wants people who are willing to keep learning and cross-train into new skills — that mindset matters more than a specific resume.
