Ambient Recruiting is partnering with a premier Northern Michigan hospitality property to hire an experienced and enthusiastic to lead dining operations at an upscale chophouse and wine bar. In this leadership role, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant while working closely with the Director of Food and Beverage, Executive Chef, and Banquets/Events Department. You'll lead a team of approximately 20–30 dining room employees while ensuring exceptional guest service, efficient operations, and department goals are consistently met.If you're an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys leading teams, creating exceptional guest experiences, and working in a dynamic restaurant environment, this could be an excellent opportunity to take your career to the next level.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Oversee daily restaurant operations and ensure the dining room runs smoothly and efficiently
- Partner with the Executive Chef to coordinate restaurant operations and maintain service standards
- Collaborate with the Banquets and Events Department to ensure banquet functions are fully operational
- Ensure the restaurant is clean, organized, well-maintained, and guest-ready
- Complete and report monthly bar inventory
- Review monthly financial reports with the Director of Food and Beverage
- Schedule front-of-house team members based on business needs
- Supervise approximately 20–30 team members in the dining room
- Ensure consistent, efficient, and professional guest service
- Monitor department goals and work to achieve operational and financial objectives
- Interview and hire new team members
- Conduct performance evaluations and appraisals
- Motivate, educate, coach, and develop team members
- Address performance concerns and provide guidance when necessary
- Ensure guest satisfaction and respond appropriately to guest concerns
- Help create a positive and enjoyable work environment
- Step in to cover uncovered shifts when necessary
- Work closely with leadership and other departments to support overall property operations
What We're Looking For:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of hospitality and guest service
- Ability to exceed guest expectations and create memorable dining experiences
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Flexible attitude and willingness to learn and grow
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to step in and assist the team when operational needs arise
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous restaurant management or supervisory experience
- Experience managing front-of-house restaurant operations
- Experience supervising larger hospitality teams
- Experience with restaurant Point of Sale systems
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel
- Experience with scheduling and staff management
- Experience with inventory management
- Familiarity with financial reporting and restaurant operating costs
- Experience in upscale dining, resort, or hospitality environments

What to Expect
This is a hands-on restaurant leadership position that requires a strong presence on the dining floor and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
You'll spend your time overseeing restaurant operations, supporting team members, interacting with guests, managing schedules, addressing operational challenges, and working closely with other departments to ensure the restaurant operates at a high level.
The position requires flexibility and availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays when needed. As a member of the leadership team, you may also be required to cover uncovered shifts to ensure the restaurant remains properly staffed.
