About this role
Ambient Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Shipping & Receiving Technician to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Grand Rapids, MI.
In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of shipping, receiving, inventory, and material-handling functions while also providing production support as needed. You’ll work closely with the production and inventory teams to ensure materials are received, tracked, stored, and shipped accurately and efficiently.

Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:10 AM
This position follows a rotating schedule of:
- Three days one week
- Four days the following week
- Every other weekend
$19.17–$26.81 per hour
Additional compensation includes:
- $1.20/hour shift premium
- Quarterly bonus incentive
Starting pay will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, training, and overall qualifications.
What You'll Do
- Safely operate equipment, including forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Perform shipping and receiving activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Receive incoming materials and accurately enter receiving information into the appropriate system.
- Create and maintain Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other shipping documentation.
- Prepare, load, and stack shipments according to established schedules and customer requirements.
- Maintain organization throughout the plant and warehouse.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate team.
- Practice FIFO inventory procedures.
- Process and transmit Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs) when applicable.
- Troubleshoot ASN errors and verify successful transmission and acceptance.
- Support inventory control activities, including material handling and cycle counting.
- Work closely with production and cross-functional teams to provide material and production support.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform occasional work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, inventory control, material handling, or a similar role preferred.
- At least one year of forklift operating experience preferred.
- Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
- Experience maintaining shipping paperwork, creating Bills of Lading, and preparing shipments for external customers.
- Understanding of inventory processes, cycle counting, and Bill of Materials (BOM) requirements.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving systems and inventory management software.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong math, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform required job duties safely, including operating equipment and working in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Valid driver's license may be required for certain job duties.
